Joshua Bankes

I studied graphic design at the University of the Arts, formerly Philadelphia College of Art (PCA), in Philadelphia with a concentration in printmaking and photography. This storied graphic design program was assembled by Ken Hiebert and supported by Hans-Ulrich Allemann, Inge Druckery, and Christine Zelinsky, all students of the Fachklasse für Grafik under Armin Hofmann at the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Basel, bringing Hofmann’s pragmatism to the process of exploration—simplicity through reduction and independent thinking—to design education in America. My photography has been further influenced from the instruction of Jan Almquist, Laurence Bach and Jerry Greenfield.
